From history

World record in the long throw

Challenger was developed by the German Volker Behrens. Volker set a new world record in 1986 with the CHALLENGER III boomerang, weighing 125 grams, with a wingspan of 40 cm, which he designed and manufactured himself. The new record was 134 meters, beating the previous one by 11 meters.

Challenger boomerangs and similar ones were often used in TV tournaments and have always been among the best. We must pay tribute, Challenger has not lost its relevance today, its shape is magnificent and is a model for many variations.

Launch example

Challenger, like other long-distance boomerangs, loves the wind. The optimal conditions will be a stable wind of 3-5 m/s. In this example, there is a complete absence of wind, so the launch is made so that the flight is almost in a straight line. The range is decreasing, but there is no choice.

Launch of the Challenger Boomerang

If you decide to try out the Challenger in action, first read the instructions. This boomerang, first of all, is a collectible and therefore too valuable for casual throwing.

For to launch LD boomerangs, which include Challenger, you need to have some skill and experience. Such boomerangs have a rather "narrow window", which requires a very accurate and strong throw to get into.

With a certain deviation of the launch parameters from this window, there is a high probability that the boomerang will fly along an incorrect and unpredictable trajectory, with the risk of a strong impact upon landing, and as a result, damage to the boomerang.
